Title: Nice Looking text.
Post by: Exilis on October 27, 2008, 08:59:52 pm
Hey guys, this is my first tutorial.

It's for how to make nice looking text in GIMP.
Unfortunately I'm a little short on time, so I won't have screenshots here for awhile.

Step 1: Make the text with the text tool.

Step 2: Go to Dialogs>Layers or Hit Ctrl+L.

Step 3: Right click the text layer and select "Duplicate Layer".

Step 4: Drag the duplicate layer under the original text layer in the "Layers" window.

Step 5: Select the blur tool and blur the duplicate layer.

Step 6: Select the original text layer and change the layer styles around to make it look nice.

I like Normal with a somewhat low opacity, overlay, soft light, and grain extract as layer styles, depending on the mood/font of the text.
