Title: The programmer's guide to ruby - Intro
Post by: Exilis on May 30, 2009, 05:03:00 pm
This tutorial is aimed at people that have programming experience in other languages, mainly at a more complex langauge like C.

If you've never programmed anything before, or you've only used a non-programming language like HTML, you might have trouble following this guide. I won't be explaining the basic things that most programmers know already.

If you are an experienced programmer, you'll pick up on ruby quickly no doubt. You might find it a bit messy, because there aren't { and } on multi-line loops, and there are no semicolons. Don't let that bother you though, you'll eventually get used to it and trust me- you'll have lots of fun with ruby in the long run.

Some notes about the tutorial
I'll be using little smileys inside of quote tags for notes,

Make sure to never overlook notes when you see them, they may be useful in the future!

This guide is and always will be a work in progress, so don't fear if a section of the guide is missing!

Ask questions right in the thread if you have any. Don't be ashamed to not understand something! And I'll update the guide if you need me to.

At the end of each session, You'll see something like this:

Session Complete. Click here to go onto the next session, Session 1: Installing Ruby. (#post_)

(go ahead and click it, the session is complete!)
